Keisuke Matsuno

Born to Japanese parents in West-Berlin and raised on both sides of the Berlin Wall, Keisuke Matsuno is a Brooklyn-based creative musician who is specialized in guitar and sound creation.

He is presently most active with the Berlin-based band Trio Schmetterling with its latest, critically acclaimed release ‘Globus’ (2013, Traumton), the electro-acoustic duo project with Danish artist Lars Graugaard and with the New York-based band Smash & Grab, led by American drummer Jim Black, which has premiered some of John Zorn’s new Bagatelles in 2015.

Other collaborations include many bands along with jazz artists Michael Attias, Drew Gress, Andy Milne and Chris Cheek, singer / songwriters Gabriel Rios and Max Prosa, the chamber orchestra of the Berlin Philharmonics, and the multi-disciplinary play MARS by New York-based company Superhero Clubhouse.

Keisuke has been touring internationally, receiving invitations from German Embassies as well as touring grants from Goethe Institut, and has performed on stages of Carnegie Hall, Blue Note, The Stone, Bimhuis, and Berlin Olympic Stadium as well as on Cork, Panama, Jarasum, Perth, Bangkok, Port-au-Prince, Fusion, and other music / jazz festivals.
